Do you feel called to serve the church? Our ministry programs provide great opportunities for individuals to become involved with both the church and the community at large. If you’re interested in a religious vocation, serving in a church ministry is a great way to get started. You’ll learn new skills and meet people from all walks of life who share a common vision, to serve Jesus Christ. Below is a list of all the available ministries you can volunteer to join and serve:

  • Altar Servers – Altar serving is a very important part of the Mass. It is reverent and sacred keeping the integrity of the Mass while assisting the priest in this holy celebration. Young people not only learn about the celebration of the liturgy, but they also share with friends as they participate in social opportunities planned especially for them. Please let your CCD teacher know if you are interested or call the parish office to leave a message for Cynthia Rimel. Altar servers are scheduled several times a month on a rotating basis according to Mass preference and training sessions are scheduled throughout the year.
  • Altar Society – Altar care ministers are responsible for cleaning the church. Rotating teams are scheduled on a weekly basis to dust the sanctuary, clean the vesting room, vestibule areas, adoration chapel, and change the candles and linens. Some may be responsible for washing and ironing linens. Additional help is needed at Christmas and Easter.
  • Art & Environment – The Art & Environment Committee, working in collaboration with the Liturgy Committee, prepares the worship space for the various liturgical seasons. Meetings are scheduled according to need with no meetings during the summer. People with enthusiasm and some visual skills are encouraged and welcomed. There is always a need for men who are able to help with occasional projects. We are also seeking a coordinator for this ministry. Please contact Eileen Kuns by calling the parish office.
  • Bereavement Ministry – Our Bereavement Ministry provides everything needed to begin and nurture a church-based program of bereavement care for individuals and families experiencing emotional difficulties because of devastating events or the loss of a loved one. Sessions are held on Mondays at 6:00 PM in the Holy Family room in the religious education building.
  • Children’s Liturgy – Children’s Liturgy is scheduled every Sunday morning at the the 11:00 AM Mass. Children ages 4 to 8 years old are welcome to attend to hear the good news and promise of our ever loving Jesus!
  • Choirs – If you’ve ever given any thought at all to joining our music ministry here at Chris the Savior, now is the time! People from the community with talent and commitment are encouraged to join and be part of a beautiful liturgy.
  • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion – Eucharistic Ministers assist the celebrant in distributing communion during Mass. They also take the Eucharist to those who are unable to attend Mass. Fully initiated members of the community are invited to distribute the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass. Formation sessions for new Eucharistic ministers are scheduled periodically throughout the year and announced in the bulletin.
  • Lectors – Lectors participate in the Liturgy by proclaiming the Scripture readings to the worshiping congregations. Volunteers can read at a Mass of their choosing. Ongoing training is provided by the Diocese. Periodically meetings are held to discuss changes or to review existing guidelines. One-on-one training is provided to help a lector become familiar with the church’s existing audio equipment.
  • Restorative Justice Ministry – Our Restorative Justice Ministry works through the various parishes and community partners of the diocese to meet the needs of offenders, victims, and their families; promote public awareness through education; and bring about systemic change in the criminal justice system. It is our vision as Catholic people that we can foster Jesus’ spirit of faith, hope, justice, peace, and reconciliation in the hearts and in the lives of all persons affected by the tragedy of crime and violence. We envision a community responding with enthusiasm to the compassionate invitation to walk with the victim, the offender, and the families of both. For more information about joining this ministry, read our brochure and contact Ana Flores.
  • Youth Ministry – Our Youth Ministry exists to provide the youth of the parish an avenue to building a deeper, more meaningful relationship with God through prayer, Scripture study, service to the community, and dedication to the mission of the church.
